Pipes and Gauges by Ansel Adams. 1939.

Getting over a cold can be painful. However, it can also be a quick battle. Documenting and sharing my top 10 tips to recovery:

 1. Exercise. Seriously. It may be difficult to get motivated when feeling under the weather, but it promotes a stronger immune system.

2. Airborne. 3x daily. I take my regular vitamins as well. Doubling dosage with vitamin C, vitamin A, zinc, and echinacea. Can’t hurt.

3. Chicken noodle soup, of course. Also, chili and curry. Spices are helpful as they entice a runny nose which expels germs. When no time to cook, Amy’s soups are the best. Oh and eat your veggies…greens!

4. Snack on: Carrot, apple, ginger juice. Freshly juiced. Tangerines/oranges. Tuna and crackers.

5. Lemon & Honey. Boil water and add to your liking. I drink this ALL day.

6. Ginger tea. Peel and cut ginger slices. Throw in pot. Boil and steep for 10 minutes. Add honey to taste. This is great for relieving congestion.

7. Vinegar & warm water gargle. As soon as I feel any sort of tickle in my throat, I go for this remedy. Dilute vinegar (distilled or apple cider) with warm water in a cup and gargle several times. It may seem gross, but it is imperative to preventing that sore throat. Or if you have a sore throat already, proceed just the same. 2x daily, a.m. & p.m.

8. Puffs Plus Lotion tissues. There is no other.

9. Vicks Vapor Rub. Can’t sleep? Been using this since a kid. Relieves congestion.

10. As best as you can, DO TRY TO AVOID over-the-counter serums/syrups/pills.

Oh, and receiving flowers from a dear one doesn’t hurt. ^_^

What do you do to get well?

The better question is – what do you do to stay healthy?

Take care.

My mum makes this horrible brew when anyone is sick and you’re pretty much better within 12 hours. It’s crazy! If only I knew the recipe I’d let you in on it.
